Donald and Me

A few people have questioned me when I post links that mention the Republican candidate for President. They read Don't Feed The Trump, and want to know why I'm referring to him. Shouldn't there be a blackout, a prohibition? Didn't you say you were going to act as if he didn't exist?

Well, no -- I didn't say that he doesn't exist, unfortunately he does, and it would be ridiculous to pretend otherwise, and possibly dangerous. What I said was that I wouldn't be writing about the crazy shit he says and does because I understand that would crowd out other ideas that need to circulate. And because I learned from experience that what trolls value most is control. When he calls the shots he wins. Anything else is just fine. We need to know what we're up against.

For example, Trump is never on his own going to make an issue of his tax returns, yet that is a big issue.

Does he have a business relationship with Russia? If so, that needs to be discussed. And that's likely something he wouldn't bring up himself.

What do we learn from the Trump University trial?

Did his wife, Melania, enter the US illegally? Seems that would be a pretty interesting story.

There's a book just out that sounds like it has lots of info about the man, most of it not very flattering. I don't have the time or energy to read it myself, but I hope others do. Whatever is in that book is totally on-topic and potentially useful.

The only thing that's not productive, imho, is talking about the latest outrageous thing he said. That's what I will try to stay away from. And so far, since making the pledge, I have.

I know it's hard to quit, but I quit smoking in 2002, and in over 14 years I haven't had a single cigarette. I can easily avoid the latest Trump-incited outrage -- we all can. And if we do, we win.

Don't feed the Trump! ;-)
