The hypocrisy of MSNBC
by Dave Winer Wednesday, August 3, 2016

Again, last night Chris Hayes tried to back a Repub legislator into a corner, asking if there's anything that Trump could do that would cause him to not endorse him. It was a completely unfair question. I wanted to ask Hayes an equivalent question. Is there any threat that Trump could pose that would wipe the grin off your face? That could get you to stop treating this as a partisan situation?

At this point, the Republican candidate for President is not just a Republican problem, he's an American problem. Until he got the Republican nomination we could look to Republicans to keep him out of the top level of the political system. It didn't happen, so now it's our problem. So let's get serious about this.

Maybe MSNBC will stop broadcasting his speeches at some point? His words are no longer news. Time to price that into the reporting and to stop letting him crowd out issues of his competence with the nonsense controversy of the day. It's a tactic that must stop working. You all need to sign on to the no-food-for-trolls program.

Maybe you'll realize that you have a stake in this too, and a responsibility to make sure this turns out well. And you can start by cutting the Republican reps some slack. We need everyone working together to stop this. Including them. Let them speak openly on your show. Stop trying to box them into corners you know they can't go into at this time. It serves no purpose other than to shut them up. What's the point of that??

Thanks for listening.
