Hey if we discontinue development of the Mac version of Frontier maybe Apple will take an interest in our product and users?

It worked for Intuit.

Hey it's amazing how many people are commenting on this. Jobs might want to get a clue. Developers pay attention to stuff like this.

Whatever works, whatever it takes.

Chris Gorski has a good point:

"If you discontinued the Mac version of Frontier, you might indeed get Apple's attention, but in the process you'd piss off an awful lot of customers. I know I'm not going to upgrade that old version of Quicken after Intuit flipped me the royal bird. Think about it. What's more important, attention from the platform vendor or the goodwill and continuing business of customers?"

OK, we won't discontinue it. Thanks for listening! DW

But one more thing, remember that Bill Campbell is a marketing guy and Steve Jobs is the master orchestrator.

There's nothing like a little orchestrated sturm und drang to stir the pot! We'll forget, just like we forgot Power Computing and UMAX. But we'll remember that Quicken is on the Mac. Intuit they got their deal, probably a bundle, and Apple gets some headlines, a developer comes back! A trend is reversed. A win-win, except it just reeks of manufactured public relations and self-dealing. Appearances count.
