Frontier 5.0d4 Release Notes

First cross platform release (internal only).

Frontier.exe runs under Windows 95.

Both platforms share the same file format, and can read 4.x databases. Extended ascii language characters are mapped between platforms but filespec, double values aren't cross-platform yet.

All major components are working: language, ODB, scripts, tables, wptexts and menubars.

Big missing parts include: code extensions; lists and records; IAC; scripted dialogs.

PC-only bugs: can't hide windows; text size always 12-point while editing; display bugs.

Script-level infrastructure needed.

Fatpage version of desktop scripts -- cmd-3 must be reworked save Frontier.root on quit w/out prompt.

New verbs.

4.x Bug Fixes

Language Fixes:

For loops exit with the value of the loop counter, not the last statement.

Fixed bug if last statement in a script was an window-based value reference.

Fixed bug if a variable was assigned a window-based value within a local statement.

date.set: Now makes the correct assumptions when the century is omitted.

db.getValue Fixed a memory leak for handle-based values.

card.run: Running a modal card forces the current process to the front.

cmd-period: Works internationally.
