Please check out MORE as an HTML text editor. It's incredible for managing long and evolving documents. I do all my change notes for Clay Basket in MORE, save them in ThinkTank 512 format in the Clay Basket input folder and rebuild the site. Clay Basket knows how to read this kind of file, and automatically marks it up with HTML codes to make it look pretty.
It's becoming more and more of an essential tool for me in website building. Check it out, it's well worth the $99 that Symantec charges.
