Welcome to my nightmare!Just kidding of course.
Actually, welcome to my year.
I did something new, in the last days of 1997 I made the time to read every word I wrote for DaveNet this year. I kept several windows open, one for each of the major threads in my 1997 writing. As I read the pieces, I copied/pasted from the web browser into these windows, with links to the original pieces.
So here's a full year of DaveNet essays, summarized.
365 days of sound bites.

How this works
At the top of each page is a set of links.
Each link represents a thread, a topic that was discussed many times in 1997.
Each page contains direct quotes from DaveNet pieces written in 1997.
The quotes are in chronologic order.
Each quote links to the piece it came from.
Almost every piece is linked in.
Some pieces are linked in more than once.
A stream of consciousness
I wanted to produce an opinionated index of this stuff. To see how my interests changed during the year, to spot loops, to re-experience the sensations behind the writing; and finally to see if I could reach closure on any of the issues that were opened or continued from previous years.
I hope you spend some time here. I think it creates an interesting document in its own right. The order is not random, it's chronologic. I didn't choose quotes because they go well after the one before. Actually I didn't read the pages until I was finished with reviewing the whole year's essays.
