Let's Have Fun -- Now! RE: IT'S ABOUT INVESTMENT

Dave,

Maybe it's about Mindshare too--Maybe the whole thing boils down to personality and mindshare and spin. MS has Gates. He is a personality. Apple has had nobody. Sculley was kind of, but he was too spacey, and just a Pepsi marketer, didn't know technology.

All the others since have been nobodies. Who's the Diesel? Gil's a fine guy but we need some electricity--a personality.(someone with spirit, fire, e.g., like you.)

If it's Jobs, so be it. Jobs gets good press. (He GETS press.) Jobs has a reputation. People know who Gates is, people know who Jobs is. The best thing that can happen to Apple is for them to have a known persona being a front man. Do you think Microsoft would be so household a word, and dominant, if Nathan Myrvhold was their CEO and storied pointman? As you always point out, it has little to do with how good is the Operating System, look at Microsoft's market share. It may have as much to do with mindshare and buzz.

Cheers and thanks for DaveNet. Happy Xmas.

Dennis Dimick
