> Objective C is going to be a problem. Few developers have learned it.
True, true. But in my experience at Swiss Bank Corp, where for a time we were NeXT's largest corporate customer, all of the engineers found Objective-C incredibly easy to learn. There were hurdles associated with learning to think in objects, and mastering NeXT's object system, but the language was a trivial curve in comparison.
In contrast, the group who took the C++ path had a much rougher time of it. There were nuances in that language that took months and months to master.
As a non-programmer, I don't want to overstate, beyond the bounds of my personal experience. But ask some people who've learned and use it.-- even though Objective-C didn't win the popular language competition, neither did NextStep; and if NextStep is going to help save Apple, it might be time for Objective-C to play it's integral part in the resurrection.
