I'm afraid that from Microsoft's apparent point of view, Embrace & Extend should probably be revised to Assimilate & Extend...

At E3, a representative of Microsoft spoke during a "Gaming on the Internet" seminar. Our engineers left because the topic at hand turned out to be "who really *owns* the internet." Large parts of the organization still appear to be hung up on the pipes, not the content.
