INTERNET STRATEGY

Mr. Winer:

A note to tell you that I tend to agree with your numerous points about Apple's internet strategy. I have found that the classic "speak softly and carry a big stick" approach doesn't make it in the workplace when it comes to drumming up support and recognition of the power and beauty of the mac and the internet. A few hits with that stick is often necessary...

We are a UNIX/wintel office, with one token mac. Well, in the hand of myself and other dedicated folks, we have managed to start and prototype nearly every major web project on that Quadra 840av. Yes, they were eventually ported to NT and the SPARC, but the roots remain in the mac. Using MacHTTP and BBEdit, along with applescript and MacPerl, we were able to think up, create, and produce remarkable applications in short timeframes. For an example visit to see a EDI profile simulator that was designed on our mac over a year and a half ago. Of course, it took a year to get it reworked in a unix shell script...

Anyway, enough from me. I will be sure to check in and see where this is all heading. By the way, the mac is still up and running at , and is able to serve files off of our Novell network without a blink...something the other servers were incapable of...
