I was mildly amused to hear Gil say "Apple will not get involved where third parties are already doing a good job", and follow that up with the rest of the conference telling us abut how Apple was going to roll FTP and HTTP client and servers in to the system, new version of ResEdit, Preferences Manager, and god knows what else (not that I think any of that is necessarily a bad idea as such, but it doesn't really match up with what he's saying).
Now I hear they plan to have personal web serving in 7.6. We shall see. It certainly makes me less inclined to grab Copland and start work on an FTP/HTTP server as soon as they release DR1 - there isn't much point in doing that if they will have their own System version when they ship 8.0.
Peter.
