Barlow is at it again -- grandstanding on someone's grave. What a piece of work. Did I tell you that he threatened to pull my nose off with some pliers for detailing the CIA connection to the Dead. Ultimately, Barlow admitted the CIA connection to the Dead and then brushed it off with a "everything's connected to everything" and "reality is just an opinion, you know." Barlow-matic in high gear.

Of course, Tim Leary was even better connected than that. According to Doug Rushkoff (who's doing Tim's bio), the whole Harvard crew recently gathered to give last respects and freely admitted that they were taking CIA money to do the experiments but that they were much smarter than the agency and they were really pursuing their own independent agenda. They then apparently said that the real nasty CIA-run gang were the West Coasters -- presumably the Kesey/Brand crew that did the Merry Pranksters and the Grateful Dead. These two groups (East vs. West Coast) are still facing off as rivals after 30 years -- amazing.

Tim saw it all and took some amazing secrets to his grave. Barlow and his buddies were not on Tim's good-guy list (despite Johnnie's attempt to give the opposite impression) but, hey, why not party with the poets, heh?
