Dave,
I have used Frontier since it first came out. I looked at AppleScript when it came out and then looked back to Frontier. My eyes no longer stray.
I have used Frontier as the core of server control for a major coprporation on an international basis for over 3 years now. I couldn't have controled the server with AppleScript, didn't even try.
I agree that Apple should have the policy that if new technologies exist from Apple third-party developers and no similiar Apple product exists yet, then Apple will assume that the developer knows better how to be innovative and Apple will help them bring the products to market and not compete against them.
I further suggest to Apple that one of their policies ought to make it clear that the third-party developers have the priority over development and not Apple. Gil should issue a memo indicating that internal Apple developers need to prove, by way of third-party developers, that Apple's development is better than existing third-party efforts or products.
Were these two conditions already in place, Frontier and many other products would be used in corporations. I guess Apple still doesn't get it.
In summary, I vote that Apple forgets about AppleScript and starts to promote Frontier as the solution. So give them hell at MacHack for yourself and the rest of us.
Sincerely,
