So where do you see this going? Mr. Amelio wrote respectfully but didn't (at least in the section that was posted) discuss anything substantive with regard to the stepping on WebStar Lite or the continuing FUD dispersed with regard to AppleScript.

I presume that nothing has been done on the OSA/OpenDoc front either.

How can the people at Claris get it so correct and Apple gets it so wrong.

Claris just finished purchasing Emailer (previously it was marketed by them but still owned by Fog City) they have a matching office product that looks like it will work nicely in the SOHO market (though I'm not a big Holonet fan).

They picked up a Web content creator ala PageMill.

Filemaker has been a killer for years, not to mention ClarisWorks.

Apple is going to release a small web server similar to the one being released by Quarterdeck, they plan to upgrade AppleScript instead of licensing Frontier. Bah. They release MacDNS for free when Other companies had already had working products on the market. Squish (I hope not, but you know what that is like.)

Further, I think they should skip Copland except as a developer release only. They should press ahead with the mature technology in the current system and let the developers prepare for Gershwin with a DR.Copland release. If it is even mildly stable release it to the public as unsupported and continue to work toward the real deal instead of this Win95-alike Copland half solution.

I'm way to tiny to be noticed. Anyone from Apple who wishes to discuss my ideas with me is welcome to get in touch with me, I'll happily discuss why I think these things are bad for Apple the business and what I would do instead if I were King.

Daniel
