hey dave,
your benchmarking is impressive (and much needed). i'm hoping that apple will take this to heart. there's way too much '70's code in the Mac still. let's hope they look at your test and what Be and NeXt did with their file system management and move into the 90's
by the way -the biggest performance hit for a web server (outside of cgi related stuff) is authentication. second biggest is error management. it might be useful to incorporate both of these into your benchmarking. this would give a great 'real world' evaluation.
