Actually, Dave, it was Bruce Willis.
The title of his one (awesome) album for Motown - only white man ever signed to the Detroit label, I'm told - was "If it don't kill you, it can only make you stronger".
Saw the man in London during a recent visit - great gig, augmented by former Stones front-man, Mick Taylor.
