Dave,
While reading your article, I was reminded of a moment of major cognitive dissonance during the WWDC. Heide Roizen was opening the Developer Expo (I think), and almost immediately after telling the audience that the "New Apple" would not enter markets where developers were already providing good solutions, she announced that Apple had signed an agreement with Natural Intelligence for Java JIT compiler and runtime environment technology to be bundled into MacOS systems. Talk about cutting Metrowerks off at the knees! I was really amazed that the two statements came in such close proximity, particularly from Ms. Roizen. And the crowd of developers applauded! I was not so amazed when Metrowerks announced later in the week that there would be a Windows version of their IDE. Take that, Apple!
So, you're in good company.
Scott
