Re:"PGP"The scripting support doesn't have to be just for the Mac. We have DLL support in Frontier 5 on Windows, so if there's a DLL version of PGP we're there.
Has anyone thought of doing a PGP encryption daemon that we could talk to thru TCP? Even if it's running on the local machine, we have the interfaces for that kind of communication too.
Just thinking out loud...

It's good to see some old Mac die-hards like you guys getting into PGP.

PGPThe source to PGP 5 is available at http://www.pgpi.com/. I was about to say that someone should check it out to see what scripting support it has (and add some!), but apparently the Mac source isn't completely finished. Maybe some international scripting.com readers could help with the effort.
EDN magazine editor Michael Markowitz claims that Microsoft is in the business of disappointing its customers. While I disagree with his reasoning, his reasoning is intriguing. His commentary is online at:

PS--I'm glad to see you've discovered PGP. I wrote an article a few months ago for Computer Bits about PGP, and as a result was invited to talk to a local computer group about it. What a kick! It was great to see so many ordinary folks concerned about electronic privacy. They got especialy fired up when one member (a physician) polled their opinions about the privacy of their medical records.

I just wanted to remind you that Outlook Express (with its support for crypto) runs just fine on Win95 or Win NT 4.0. If you installed a copy of the IE4 preview for Windows then you probably have a copy on your PC. You should make an S/MIME public key available too

Outlook ExpressI've been working with PGP 5.0. Earlier versions of PGP had awesome support for scripting and AppleEvents, but the new PGP 5.0 software doesn't seem to have more than basic support for the required events (open, quit, etc.).

Scripting PGPI haven't been able to get an answer out of PGP, Inc. directly and their Web site has no info, either. Do you know how we can find out if the new version is as scriptable as its predecessors?
