Re:"no crypto too tough to crack"The same people who cracked DES are now having a go at RC5 another 56bit encryption scheme. The Bovine Team (http://rc5.distributed.net) will have checked all 2^56 keys by early next year, but will probably crack the code before then. (DES was cracked after 24% of all possible keys were ckecked).
The important thing to remember about this effort is that it's being done with the idle cycles of our CPUs. It isn't too difficult to imagine how fast a determined professional effort could take to crack RC5.
Windows NT 5 will come with Index Server that will index all documents. NT 5 Beta 1, which was hand ed out at the Professional Developers Conference in San Diego last month already has this feature. It seems to work nicely. You can access the search engine through HTML and scripts or through the usual Find menu in explorer.
