SGI replaces Indy with O2 line: 10x the powerFive new products, new design$5,995 and up. There are eight configurations, ranging in price from $5,995 for one equipped with a 180-MHz R5000 to $17,995 for a 175-MHz R10000 model. Shipped with Insignia SoftWindows, the machines can also run a wide range of applications for Windows 3.1 and Windows 95.For publishing system and software suppliers, the O2 workstations provide a wider range of configurations, especially at the low end, on which their software can operate. For example, Linotype-Hell's DaVinci can now operate on the entire SGI workstation line, as can Alias Wavefront software (now the property of Xyvision Contex) and Fractal Painter. Likewise, Adobe is enriching its support of SGI workstations. Its Display PostScript and Acrobat Reader will be available for all SGI workstation configurations. Premier also will run on the O2 line, as will a new release of Photoshop.
