Wordpress makes shitty softwareMonday, March 05, 2007 by Dave Winer. Here's another reason why Wordpress is so popular -- they belong to Ye Old Schoole of Shitty Software, which teaches: 1. We know our software sucks. 2. We know we've let you down. 3. It's our fault not yours. (Or Matt's.) 5. Let's find a way to get your data back. 6. We promise we'll take a look at this problem, and if possible, fix it in the next release. That's what I look for in a software vendor, and when I'm creating software, what I strive for. I know from experience that software that's shipping crashes and loses data, or breaks, and disappoints. When you choose to use a piece of software, you're buying into a process, not something that's finished. We know it's shitty, but we'll work to make it less so. PS: Of course, the OPML Editor, which I use to edit Scripting News, crashed while I was writing this post. |
