I too wish that browsers would allow scripts to get the source text of a document. Additionally, I was just digging through Eudora's glue and found to my dismay that scripts can't get the original text of a message (with all headers, MIME encoding, etc.) making it impossible to implement rfc-compliant PGP handling in Eudora using scripts. I really wish that application developers would put more consideration into extensibility for the power-scriptors among us. Look to emacs as a model--everything about it can be controlled/extended with elisp. It's frustrating sometimes to not be able to have as much control on the Mac as on other platforms.
