Rebooting is as much fun as booting

The bloggers river was such a good and easy idea I kick myself for not doing it sooner. People have said that it's like the early blogosphere ping servers, only better. That it is.

One of the reasons we stopped investing in ping servers is that the size of the tech blogosphere overwhelmed anyone's ability to keep up with it.

But as things have quieted down now, all of a sudden some of the things we did on the way up make sense again.

And what's cool is that servers are now much cheaper and we know better how to scale apps. So the services we created in the early days of blogging will go further. Probably much further.

This reminds me of the arguments about market share in what were assumed to be the last days of the Mac in the early 90s when Windows was surging. I said then who cares, there are more Macs than ever now, if it was a good-size market last year then it's even better this year. Same with blogging in 2016.

Anyway if you're a blogging programmer, now's a good time to be looking around for interesting projects. There's still enough critical mass to get something going, it seems.
