DaveNet is a series of essays I published by email starting in October 1994.
It was the beginning of a thread that led me to blogging in 1996, RSS in 1997, XML-RPC and SOAP in 1998, and podcasting in 2000, among other things.
We covered the browser wars, Microsoft's antitrust battle with the U.S. government, the music industry's battle with Napster and music fans.
I became a massage therapist while writing DaveNet, while a professional writer for HotWired, one of the first web publications.
I finished the series in March 2004, having moved most of my writing to Scripting News, my weblog.
