Now that the shouting is over... [Don't you just love the legal system?]
AutoWeb 1.0 requires Macintosh System 7.0 or greater, NetScape 1.0N or greater, Anarchie 1.3.1 or greater, and a connection to the Internet thru MacTCP.
The AutoWeb package contains:
AutoWeb is designed for people with some script writing experience, perhaps with Basic, a batch or shell language, or HyperCard. There is actually very little scripting required to use AutoWeb, but it's a more technical product than a word processor. And to get the most from AutoWeb, you will need to do a little scripting.
The author of the program, Peter Lewis, graciously allowed us to include the Anarchie software with AutoWeb. Like AutoWeb, Anarchie must be licensed. If you run a website with AutoWeb, you must register your copy with Mr. Lewis, according to the instructions in the Helper Apps folder.
It seemed reasonable to require a web browser for a product that produces web content. Netscape is moderately scriptable, so we've been able to create a couple of nice connections, and others are possible. But the same thing could be done with any moderately scriptable web browser. On the other hand, the HTML that AutoWeb generates uses the Netscape enhancements. Your site will look better when browsed with Netscape-compatible browser.
