DaveNet on HiatusWednesday, March 29, 2000 by Dave Winer. Good morning!Ever notice how everything shifts sometimes when you say you'll never do something again? "I'll never write another DaveNet," I said a few moments ago. "It's all happening on the Web now. I can't stop for the three hours it takes to write and edit an essay. Things are moving too fast." I update Scripting News two dozen times a day, and never find the time to write a long essay to put it all in perspective. Smart Web readers figure out how to connect the dots. There's never time to keep DaveNet readers in the loop. So I decided to never write another DaveNet, and guess what's the first thing I have to do after doing that? I have to write a DaveNet saying this! Oooops. I was a math major. I see the loop. In the meantimeThere really will be fewer DaveNets, maybe no more, ever. Denise Caruso quit the NY Times. Perhaps it's time for me to shift too. In the meantime, if you're missing your Dose of Dave, check out www.scripting.com. I'm there. Just using a different medium now. Thanks for listening! Dave WinerPS: Of course I have a slogan for this. Shift Happens! Yeah. Coooool. |
