About DaveNetSunday, February 4, 2007 by Dave Winer. A ten year runDaveNet is a series of essays I published by email starting in October 1994. It was the beginning of a thread that led me to blogging in 1996, RSS in 1997, XML-RPC and SOAP in 1998, and podcasting in 2000, among other things. We covered the browser wars, Microsoft's antitrust battle with the U.S. government, the music industry's battle with Napster and music fans. I became a massage therapist while writing DaveNet, while a professional writer for HotWired, one of the first web publications. I finished the series in March 2004, having moved most of my writing to Scripting News, my weblog. This site is archived, hopefully for a long time, statically served and also available for download in a variety of formats: in HTML, OPML and as an object database that can be opened with Frontier, Radio or the OPML Editor. Namaste y'all! Dave |
