Wired's Tech Renegade for 2001Thursday, October 18, 2001 by Dave Winer. Good news!Last night Wired Magazine announced their Rave Awards for 2001, honoring me with their top Tech Renegade award, for work on SOAP, which began in this column in February 1998. Last year's winner was Napster's Shawn Fanning. Paul Boutin, senior editor at Wired, explains: "Dave stuck his neck out to work both with Microsoft and against them. He leveraged their ubiquity and power to promote a technology designed for developers everywhere rather than just those in Redmond." Thank youMy acceptance speech is on Scripting News today. Summary: Thank you very much for the honor. In other words: Namaste y'all! Dave Winer PS: I wrote for Wired in 1995 and 1996. |
