Where is web development headed?
Wednesday, January 13, 2016 by Dave Winer

Just read the Great State of Web Development by Jon Eisen, which makes a good counterpoint to Drew's now-deleted post about the Sad State, which I wrote about yesterday

Eisen's story is basically the same as Drew's, but optimistic. Drew's was mostly not. Both are very spirited. I wish Drew would re-post his piece. It was totally worth having it on the record. He asks important questions. No doubt many trolls objected. Can't we get past that? Just fucking ignore them.

I'd like to know what the goal of all this reinvention is. What are you all building? When it's done, what will I be able to do with it? Are you factoring, trying to simplify, build higher level structures? Or is it as Drew says, churning and wheel-spinning?

I'm learning so much so quickly, I'd just like to know if there's a plot.

Spoilers welcome! :-)

PS: I'm having trouble finding a feed for Eisen's site. I want to add it to my river.

PPS: He now has a feed.

  • PPS: Eisen's site is hosted on GitHub which supports Atom but you have to explicitly turn it on. Maybe he will do that for us :)
