Bug #1

Bug Report #1 Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Enjoying testing Scripting2. I think this running metablog format is a pretty good way to get started and get a feel for things. Having the simultaneous goals of exploring the tool and communicating with clarity what I'm finding feel complementary.

Maybe I should let these posts unfold naturally and then occasionally create specific "Bug Report" posts that lump together a bunch of the key things I've come across. This would be one such post.

When I open the Blogroll editor from the Scripting2 workspace the first time since I booted up the OPML editor, the "Save" button isn't there. I can easily get the button to show up by simply closing the window and reopening. Once I did that I could edit the Blogroll succesfully.

Not sure how to add hyperlinks to specifc words in a blog post. I see how I can right-click on my unpublished text in the workspace and click "Add Link," but that just creates an "arrow" link at the end of the paragraph.

Also, still working on the post bookmarking feature.  Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Hope this is useful Dave. I welcome your feedback on my feedback. :-)

Bookmarking even more Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Still working on figuring out this post bookmarking feature. I wonder if I should be creating them in my general workspace window or if I should go to the edit page for a specific post and make it there.

I thought before that I created a bookmark succesfully which brought me to the line I left off at in the workspace (assuming I hadn't cleared my text out of the window). But after trying to put a bit more stress on the feature by changing my place in the window I found it had difficulty getting me to the correct spot. Maybe that's not how this feature was designed.

If I go to the edit page of a specific post I can create a bookmark that succesfully brings that window back up. However, the buttons at the top of the window are not there. I have go to the post directly and click the "Edit" button to make them appear.

It seems I didn't have the updated version of scripting2.root that supports the post bookmarking feature. Got a little too excited.

Now I have the updated file so hopefully this will work. This time I will publish the post and use the bookmark to come back and enter an edit to the post. Now that I really think about it, that would be when this feature would be most useful.

Now I'd like to try the new feature that allows for bookmarking a blog post to edit later.  Permanent link to this item in the archive.

The first thing I did was use this doc to turn on the Bookmarks menu in the OPML editor.  Permanent link to this item in the archive.

Now I'd like to try bookmarking this post and going to get a glass of seltzer.

Excellent, it worked well. I clicked "Add Bookmark" from the Bookmarks menu and titled this post "Bookmarking." Now it shows up in the Bookmarks menu.

Oops, I noticed something. When I open the bookmark I've created from the Bookmarks menu my workspace opens to the correct place but the buttons at the top are not there. I can make them reappear easily enough by opening up the workspace again from the Tools menu.

Looks like I don't know to add in-line hyperlinks to word in my post. It seems like I can only add one link to each unit of text. The way I do that is right-click on my unpublished text in the workspace and click "Add Link."

Articulating what I'm learning is making me think that those of us helping develop this tool need to get on the same page with the language we are using.

While we are here I'd like to try adding a link to some subtext.

I'd like to do try adding some links to a post. Here is a neat web tool I found today. Permanent link to this item in the archive.

I wonder if I can add multiple links to each unit of text. Today I watched a World Cup match between Spain and Portugal. Permanent link to this item in the archive.
