Why we give it up for Apple

A short while ago I lamented that I no longer lust for any material possessions as I did when I was a kid. I used to spend endless hours flipping through catalogs imagining how cool it would be to have this or that. Usually sports equipment or sound gear. This was before people had computers. But now I want for nothing.

There was a period when I still didn't own everything Apple sells. But a few years ago I maxed that out, and now the only times I'm wanting, and it's a lovely feeling, is the week between pre-ordering a new gadget, and the time it arrives. This is the only time I get that child-like feeling of possession-lust. And we're in it now, and it's great.
