Does tech have critics?

I believe any art requires criticism, preferably by people who have some idea about what they're criticizing. That's why I feel I'm doing a service to my fellow tech people, by showing them what their work looks like from another perspective. I've never claimed, nor do I believe, that mine was the best perspective, that there isn't room for others. (I wish they would return the favor. I generally ship new products to silence. No reaction, no feedback, nothing.)

If the tech industry does have critics, I think they don't try very hard, or take many risks. This has been a coddled craft, people accustomed to getting their way, never hearing words they don't like. But the work is now so mainstream, it requires the kind of criticism that other mainstream arts get.

PS: There's a scene in the current Birdman movie (spoiler) that shows how powerful criticism can be. (I don't recommend that extreme.)

PPS: What tech doesn't have and desperately needs is: Festivals. Such a huge missing piece.
