We were talking about this here in August. I want to revisit this idea, after a few months of development and thought.
Consider this A-B comparison: A post on my blog. The same post on Facebook.
Goal: Make it possible to post, on Facebook, the same content. It should look as good as it does on my blog, and be as functional.
Minimally this means two features must be supported: 1. Every post can have a title. 2. I need to be able to link from within a post.
Without the ability to link, I am not writing. I started writing when the web came along. I have never written without the ability to link. It's part of how I think.
Linking is more than that, it's an obligation, a requirement, a commitment.
Nice-to-have: simple markdown formatting. Beyond that, I would stop, let a year go by, see what develops. Then revisit with a few simple upgrades.
The sooner we get these features the sooner we can start building a serious content world around Facebook. I'm really looking forward to doing this.
