Nagel to Head AT&T Labs

The news... Dave Nagel is leaving Apple to become the president of AT&T Labs, the successor of Bell Labs, the organization that developed Unix, and one of the central research organizations in the computer industry.

My comments... Contratulations to Dave Nagel. I think this is an excellent choice for both him and for AT&T. I've been a critic of his role at Apple, and have engaged in various heated email exchanges with Nagel over the years. We've had our differences, but he leaves Apple with a lot of goodwill behind him, and here too. Dave is a genuinely good guy. No one who knows him says otherwise.

Onward!

So... Who is the new top development guy at Apple?

Speculation is welcome.
