FRANCE-US-AVIATION-CRASH

(FILES) A combo of two pictures released on August 31, 2000 by the French Accident's Investigation Bureau (BEA) shows (top) the lefthand front tyre burst after being pierced by a 43-centimetre (17 inch) piece of metal (bottom) on runway '26 right' of Paris Charles de Gaulle airport. The strip of metal (bottom) that fell on the runway from a Continental Airlines plane could have partly caused the crash of the Air France Concorde on July 25, 2000. US Continental Airlines and two of its employees are to stand trial for manslaughter over the crash that killed 113 people, judicial officials said on July 3, 2008. A former French civil aviation official and two former members of the Concorde programme are to be tried on the same charge, with the trial expected to take place next year. AFP PHOTO / BEA
