US-SPACE-MARS PHOENIX

This NASA handout image, received on June 23, 2008 shows trenches dug by the Robotic Arm on NASA's Phoenix Mars Lander on June15, 2008(L) and June 19. The images show the sublimation of ice over the four day period. In the lower left corner of the Sol 20 image, a group of lumps are visible. In the right image on Sol 24, the lumps have disappeared, similar to the process of evaporation.
