PHILIPPINES-WEATHER-US-TYPHOON-AID

Philippine Army soldiers load sacks of rice to a US Navy Seahawk helicopter of the USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier in Iloilo city in the central Philippines on June 26, 2008 as part of a pledge by US President George W. Bush to aid typhoon victims. Iloilo and other areas in Panay island bore the brunt of Typhoon Fengshen when it slammed into the Philippines on June 21. More than 490 people died and more than a million have been left homeless by Fengshen, according to civil defence estimates. The number does not include the hundreds thought killed when a ferry battered by the the typhoon sank carrying more than 850 people. AFP PHOTO/FRANCIS ANGELO
