US-ENERGY-GAS-CAVALLO

Former Argentine Economy Minister Domingo Cavallo (1991-1996 and 03/2001 - 12/2001) fuels his vehicle on June 25, 2008 at a station in Washington, DC. The national average price for regular unleaded gas is 4.067 USD a gallon. Many analysts expect the Fed, led by chairman Ben Bernanke, to announce later Wednesday that it will keep its key base rate pegged at 2.0 percent, despite rising inflationary pressures stoked by soaring crude oil prices. Cavallo is the former Agentine economics minister who was jailed for 66 daysin 2002 for his role in an arms smuggling deal and was released because of a lack of evidence. AFP PHOTO/Karen BLEIER
