US-RECORD-SHOES

Athletic shoes(L) belonging to actress Cameron Diaz will become part of the 10,512 shoes displayed on July 2, 2008 in the courtyard at the National Geographic Society in Washington, DC. National Geographic Kids magazine walked into the Guinness World Record books with the longest chain of shoes. Tied by the laces and placed heel-to-toe, the sneakers measured 8,700 feet(2,651.7meters). The used sneakers will be shipped off to Nike's Reuse-a-Shoe program which will recycle them into material that will be used to build athletic surfaces such as basketball courts and playgrounds.
