Remember when Gmail added the Social and Promotions tab, how sick it was that you couldn't get rid of it? Well, turns out you can.

Choose Configure inbox from the settings menu, screen shot at the right, and then voila, a dialog comes up that lets you remove them.

Google will be happy to know that I did not turn them off. But just knowing that I can made it less of a burnout feature.

They could have told me about that, like they tell me about the things they want me to know about.
