The Rolling Stones openly copied American blues musicians.
But they came up with their own name, which left them free to develop their own style, following whatever direction their art pulled them in.
And in 1981, the Rolling Stones got together with Muddy Waters to perform the blues classic Please Don't Go. What a thrill to see Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood paying respect to Muddy Waters. How awkward it would have been if they all had the same name.
Whatever comes after Markdown should be as respectful as the Rolling Stones were to Muddy Waters. It seems so simple.
