Please, let's get a process going where users write about software that builds net freedom. Fun, easy to use stuff, and stuff for masters of plumbing and wiring.
We already have plenty of PR for the stuff that siphons off and monetizes freedom. Look at Techmeme, or any of the VC-backed conferences. Product Hunt. Etc.
We need balance. It's so great to hear from people who love the kind of software that builds freedom, but when we ship new stuff, no one writes about it.
You guys are so good at communicating, and you provide the necessary independent perspective. I can write about how wonderful my stuff is but that always comes with the grain of salt -- of course he loves it, he must have some way to screw us with it. Even if I won't do that, and don't want to do it, and am willing to pay for it out of my own pocket. They still suspect something's up.
So please, we need your help. Let's get a new community of software and freedom lovers. And lets reward developers who create stuff that respects our freedom, with more users. This is how we build the net we want.
Remember we used to talk about Users and developers, party together? Remember what we got done with that. It still works. Help us.
